Transform Your Suffolk County Property with Professional Modular Wall System Installation

Property owners in Suffolk County are increasingly turning to modular wall systems as a versatile, cost-effective solution for creating functional spaces, managing soil retention, and enhancing property aesthetics. Whether you’re looking to divide interior spaces, build retaining walls, or create outdoor structures, modular wall systems describe a type of easy do-it-yourself construction blocks that can be used to retain soil on slopes, with individual blocks that interlock together without any mortar or pins.

Understanding Modular Wall Systems

Modular wall kits are versatile, customizable wall systems designed to divide spaces without the need for permanent construction. They can be configured to suit various layouts and are ideal for both residential and commercial spaces. These kits can be easily installed, moved, or reconfigured as needed, making them perfect for Suffolk County property owners who value flexibility and efficiency.

Wall kits are designed for easy DIY assembly, with two people typically able to assemble and install any wall kit in 90 minutes or less, with minimal tools needed. Step-by-step PDF and video guides make the process simple.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Step 1: Planning Your Project

Before beginning your modular wall installation, proper planning is essential. For a typical landscape wall, the total wall height must not exceed 36″ (1.2 m). Measure out your site simply by using a tape measure, some string and pegs, sticks or even chopsticks! Place your first peg (or stick) where your first post will go, with the stick representing the post centre. Measure the appropriate spaces between post centres, marking all post centre placements.

Step 2: Preparing the Base

Check the location of existing structures and utilities before starting the excavation. Excavate the soil in the location where the retaining wall is to be by digging back into the slope, assuring adequate space on the rear side of the wall for gravel backfill. Dig a trench for the first course of stone 30″ wide by 12″ deep. Fill the first 6″ of the trench with ODOT ¾”-0 gravel and compact well, making sure that the gravel is level.

Step 3: Setting the Foundation Course

Set the bottom course of block at the desired position on top of the prepared gravel. This foundation course is critical for the stability of your entire wall system. Ensure each block is level and properly aligned before proceeding to the next course.

Step 4: Building Up the Wall

Continue adding courses of blocks, ensuring proper interlocking between each level. The standard wall angle set back is 12°. If a different angle is required, then the angle the first course is set at must be adjusted to accommodate the different angle. This angle is maintained as the following courses of stone and gravel are placed.

Step 5: Finishing the Installation

Set the top course and backfill to within 3″ of the top. Finish the backfill area with soil to the desired height. The top course can either be held in place by gravity or fixed with an approved flexible adhesive.

Tools and Materials Needed

For most modular wall installations, you’ll need basic tools including a drill and/or screwdriver for installing accordion doors and mounting the wall kit to your existing walls. Additional tools may include a level, measuring tape, shovel for excavation, and a compactor for base preparation.
